Michaelene HultmanMichaelene is a two time graduate from Michigan State University, receiving a degree in Zoology in 1992 and a degree in Medical Technology in 1997. After a 20 year break from school she earned her Specialist in Blood Banking in 2016. Her career in Medical Technology has led her through multiple departments in hospital laboratories, private laboratories and a reference lab.

As a working mother of three, Michaelene is currently the Chief Technologist in Transfusion Medicine at University of Chicago Medicine. She keeps a busy department running and enjoys teaching students and residents all she has to share about blood banking. She enjoys outdoor activities with her two daughters who are in college and board games with her son, who is in sixth grade. Michaelene spends her free time reading and is currently challenging herself to learn another language.
