BLD Make Connections - Enjoy the Process
with Meredith Herman
Meredith K Herman graduated from MSU with a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics, with Honors, December 2017. The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics department presented her the Stevens Award for academic merit and the College of Natural Science selected her to receive the Dan Bolin Award for leadership, community service and academic ability. She entered medical school at MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018. Her interest in pathology began during her years at BLD and further developed through medical school. Currently, she is a post-sophomore pathology fellow at the University of Toledo Medical Center where she will devote a year to learn and work in anatomic and clinical pathology specialties. In her free time, she enjoys painting.
After the fellowship, she will return to her medical school hospital specialty rotations and graduate in 2023 with plans to enter a residency to specialize in pathology. Meredith loves how the laboratory forms the heart of healthcare, where lab professionals and pathologists work together to provide critical diagnoses that directly impact patients’ lives. Remembering her time in North Kedzie, she loved the close-knit community, the outstanding faculty, and the real-life application of the courses at BLD that can form the foundation for many science and medicine based careers.
