Assistant Instructor

Position Summary

The primary focus of this position is to assist faculty with instruction of laboratory courses in all clinical laboratory specialties. The successful applicant will also assist in curriculum development, support faculty in evaluations and assessments, and advising students.  The position requires an individual with knowledge of all areas of the clinical laboratory and experience in at least one specialty area. The successful applicant must be certified as a medical laboratory scientist or medical technologist by a US certifying agency, e.g., ASCP,  have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to coordinate work with staff and faculty, and possess strong organizational skills. Position Description:  The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program at Michigan State University invites applications for a Fixed Term Faculty position (non-tenure) at a rank commensurate with experience (Assistant/Associate/Professor). The individual will be responsible for instruction in clinical chemistry and laboratory operations at the undergraduate and graduate level. Michigan State offers two undergraduate degrees (one NAACLS accredited) and three graduate degrees. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate and hold a clinical certification/credential (ABCC, ASCP, ABMM, ABHI, ABB or MLS, SC(ASCP) or eligible).

The candidate will need to demonstrate superb teaching skills, discipline knowledge, writing skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Additional responsibilities include advising, professional engagement, service and outreach. The appointment will be an academic year, nine month position.  Opportunities for summer employment and/or clinical activities may be accommodated.
