MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY - Medical Technologist I
MSU Hci Clinical Services is looking for a Medical Technologist I in Dr. John Gerlach's laboratory. Our laboratory supports kidney, heart, lung, and bone marrow transplant programs. This position requires the employee to perform molecular HLA typing, HLA antibody testing, flow cytometry testing and general quality assurance. This position does requires a large amount of computer screen time analyzing and interpreting patient results.
As part of the Technical Support team at API, the Technical Specialist provides technical excellence by supporting daily activities related to technical support and statistical analysis.
- Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to laboratories, consultants, and government agencies.
- Review statistical sample data to assure certainty.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documents and reports.
- Interface with manufacturers and other API staff to provide effective technical support.
- Maintain an awareness of new technical developments in laboratories.
- Prepare special projects as directed.

My name is Richard Barnes and I am the Blood Bank Supervisor at Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. I am reaching out to you because we have an urgent and immediate need for overnight Med Techs for our lab. Incoming techs will work as generalists, gaining experience in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology. We do not have a Microbiology department but we do process gram stains and run automated PCR testing.
Positions available for all shifts. Performs qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests on patient specimens, according to established standards and practices. Analyzes test results and prepares samples for testing. Calculates test findings and maintains records. Prepares and determines validity of solutions, reagents, media, stains and various materials in the testing processes. Creates, uses or modifies logic schema required to identify, take corrective action, research and report problems with minimal supervisory intervention. Assesses potential sources of disparity. Evaluates the validity of data in relation to the test system and assay procedures. Correlates quantitative, biochemical, physiological and morphological data with other laboratory data and or other patient data to verify results. Performs additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal results.

The position is a full time position in Fort Myers, Florida on the west coast of Florida. It includes wetlab and/or analysis in cancer flow cytometry. It is a high volume reference lab, the leading cancer reference laboratory in the country. Having laboratory experience, including flow cytometry analysis experience is a plus. The schedule is TBD.
