Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington-Normal, IL is looking for a        Lab-Tech MT/MLE.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in medical technology from an accredited program including clinical laboratory training experience.  This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
Previous experience with basic principles and functions of instruments/equipment commonly used in the clinical laboratory. The position is a full time position in Fort Myers, Florida on the west coast of Florida. It includes wetlab and/or analysis in cancer flow cytometry. It is a high volume reference lab, the leading cancer reference laboratory in the country. Having laboratory experience, including flow cytometry analysis experience is a plus. The schedule is TBD. Start date TBD, but being available ASAP is a plus. You have to have a bachelor degree plus ASCP certification in order to qualify for the Florida license. The lab pays for you to get the FL technologist license.

Laboratory Scientist

Physicians Toxicology Laboratory — Kalamazoo, MI

Company Description

Physicians Toxicology Laboratory is a small company that has been in existence for 7 years and has two laboratories’ (MI and FL) with state of the art equipment designed to meet the specific needs of monitoring patient compliance in the Pain Management and Addiction Medicine practice. Physicians treating patients suffering from chronic pain face several unique challenges, including those associated with medication management. Routine urine drug testing provides documentation to rule out illicit drug use or non-compliance with a prescribed drug regimen.

Job Summary

The Laboratory Scientist would solely run the Michigan lab by working independently with assistance from Florida main lab personnel, as needed, to perform and analyze the results of the complex scientific tests.  This person would be physically located at the corporate office location, which houses the laboratory as well.

The Laboratory Scientist Manager would be located in Tampa, FL. 

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Building worklists in Apollo LIMS system
  • Labeling bullet tubes and LCMS vials
  • Aliquoting patient samples for various procedures to test for the presence or quantity of therapeutic drugs and drugs of abuse
  • Preparing urine and oral fluid samples and QC’s for LCMS analysis in the wet lab
  • Screening patient samples on the Olympus analyzer
  • Follow the clinical laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and immediately notify Florida Lab Manager, if necessary.
  • Ensuring proper storage of specimens following specimen receipt
  • Adhere to the clinical laboratory’s quality control policies and document quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Performing LCMS analysis of urine and oral fluid specimens; maintaining quality results by running standards and controls
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the clinical laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Ensuring patient test results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly
  • Present all laboratory logs and QA monthly to off-site Lab Director
  • Verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting
  • Calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures
  • Handle hazardous waste management activities in accordance to preset policies and protocols
  • Responsible for monthly laboratory inventory and ordering as needed via PO process
  • Back up to customer service department at the Florida Lab, as needed
  • Other duties, as needed

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science
  • Certification by ASCP, AMT, or AAB
  • 2-5 years of lab experience

Preferred Experience but not necessary:

  • Wet Lab
  • LCMS
  • LIMS
