Graduated from Michigan State University in 1980 with a degree in Medical Technology (as it was called back when it was a part of the College of Human Medicine). Completed my internship at the Battle Creek Area Medical Education Corp. (BAMEC). Coming from the small town of Nashville (yes in Michigan) I chose to start my career at Pennock Hospital, a small rural hospital in Hastings. Was the supervisor of transfusion services for 12 years, then, having an interest in computer technology in healthcare, moved to the Information Technology department. Pennock is now a part of Spectrum Health where I manage the LIS, interfaces and other areas of out hospital information system (my official title is Sr. Business Systems Analyst).
